Arthur Brown (real name Arthur Wilton, born June 24, 1942) is a British rock musician and songwriter. He became famous for his first album "The Crazy World of Arthur Brown" (1968) by his first band of the same name, but was unable to repeat that success later. Brown was one of the pioneers of flamboyant stage shows, actively using fiery special effects. Together with Arthur Brown, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown featured organist Vincent Crane (who later organized Atomic Rooster) and drummer Carl Palmer (who helped Crane with Atomic Rooster but became famous as a member of the supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer). In 1975, Arthur Brown starred in Ken Russell's film adaptation of The Who's rock opera "Tommy." Brown's most famous composition is Fire. The recitative intro to Fire is heard in the song of the same name by The Prodigy, and also in a sampled version in the "Marilyn Manson" single "Lunchbox." Ozzy Osbourne covered Fire on his album "Under Cover."
