Roxy Music

A British rock band founded in 1970 by Bryan Ferry (vocals, piano, keyboards) and Graham Simpson (bass guitar). Later, Phil Manzanera (guitar), Andy Mackay (oboe, saxophone), and Brian Eno (keyboards, synthesizer) joined them; however, the collective’s lineup constantly changed, while Bryan Ferry remained its de facto leader. The band’s compositions combined ironic poetry, virtuoso performance, and stylish stage productions filled with examples of high fashion, kitsch, and commercial photography. A characteristic feature of the band’s early works was the symbiosis of lyrics and modernism. Melancholic compositions predominated in Roxy Music’s work.
