5 days before (20.10) JSS's solo album, the prog-album Psychotic Symphony from Sons of Apollo came out. And SOA – is just one of the projects where Soto participated lately. A super-group where besides Jeff, such personalities as Derek Sherinian, Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater), and Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big) + Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal who played 8 years in Guns 'N' Roses, make music. The material, as could be assumed, is strongly oriented towards DT, but in combination with Soto's melody, it gives a stunning combination in God of the sun. In Coming home, it becomes clear that the guys can simply rock without any prog. Labyrinth, gathering momentum towards each chorus, is given to the slaughter of Sherinian. The groove returns in Lost in oblivion. And Divine addiction gives a bow to Deep Purple. A very strong album on a happy week for Sotophiles. A head higher than his solo creation. A beautiful specimen of heavy prog without excesses and digging into the mind. The DT school has not passed in vain for anyone. The main thing they teach there is to keep the balance. And Billy, as he knew how to create a deep bass sound, so he does. I would even say that he developed this skill to the maximum.
